History
The Capdet name for the area comes from its original owner who became locally well-known for leading the local militia during the Napoleonic wars in the 1804/1814 period of occupation by the French forces.
Can Tomeu Capdet is now a protected building but owing to its hidden location in the copse of trees it is little known even locally in Sant Pere de Ribes. It was built towards the end of the nineteenth century to house the additional personnel working on the farm.
The renovation allowed a minimum extension which was used to provide modern kitchen and lounge facilities. The original rooms upstairs and down were carefully renovated keeping their original size and nature as can been seen from the retention of the arch on the south facade of the building and the thickness of the many of original walls.
In its copse setting Can Tomeu benefits from the perfume from the pine trees mixed with the Rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus) which from time to time engulfs the house.
